The Most Important of All is Love! Lo Mas Importante es el Amor! Le Plus Important C'est L'Amour!
Do What You Think is Right and Hurt No One!
There are many types of Love and Love has many names. It can be a person as in, "you are my love." It can be an object as in, "The novel is his greatest love." It can be a journey as in, "The voyage to Asia in pursuit of her darling became the greatest love of her life." Love can be a thought, Love can be a song, Love can be an inspiration, Love can be adoration, Love can be preoccupation. It is one of the most fundamental emotions of the Universe. Without it, we are nothing. It is the strongest power of all and it can be as fragile as a faded rose. If we are lucky, Love is what presses us to lead our lives.
The Love we have for a child is not the same as the love we have for our family and that is not the same as the love we have for dear friends which is very different from the love we have for those with whom we make love. Again, if we are lucky, we will have a love for All That Is which is the primary source of each breath we take and each deed we accomplish. Love is stronger than any notion of evil.
Because of this amazing power, to misuse what is called "an act of love" for a twisted, evil purpose is one of the foulest sins of all time. Such an act is never an expression of Love! It is the betrayal of Love! To misuse sexuality or the act of love is a hideous crime! In writing of Love, such words must be spelled out carefully so that there can be no misinterpretation.

Sexuality between adults who desire, respect and love each other is one of the highest forms of Art in the Universe. Passionate love takes place between the lovers but the experience quickens and enlivens All That Is! Each time Love is expressed, all of us become better beings in a better world and in a better universe.
It is our first and most important reason for being: to demonstrate our capacity to love and to be loved. There is no higher duty. There is no greater act. There is no finer accomplishment than to give and receive Love in all of its beautiful manifestations. Keep it always with you. Express it, Feel it, Be it!

We All Experience the Same Emotions.
All living beings feel the same emotions that every human being feels. The most important of those emotions is LOVE! Growing up, you might have been taught that the opposite of Love is Hate. I do not believe this is true: the opposite of Love is Fear. Once fear is conquered, what remains is Love. In order to conquer fear, we must first identify what we fear and then learn all that we can about why we fear it. In the case of a different person, once you learn about that person's life, feelings, and all that he/she went through, it is almost impossible not to love that person. The words to the old song, "To know, know, know me is to love, love, love me..." are very true!
Do Not Fear Death!
Humanity:
When a baby is born, there is much pain as the labor process ends with the beginning of a new life. The new child takes a first breath, the blood is washed away, and the tiny body is wrapped carefully and lovingly in protective clothing. Family and Friends are exhausted. Some are in tears while others give thanks that this wondrous step has been taken safely. Everyone welcomes the new person into the world to begin the business of living. We who care for the elderly and terminally ill see the natural, last step of that business of living. In nursing homes, we frequently witness the process necessary for the no-longer-new person to leave this world and go Home. Just as in birth, in dying, there may be pain, tears and exhausted friends and family members. Just as in birth, the process of dying should be a labor of Love. Unfortunately for us, our culture has come to believe that dying is frightening, unnatural, and, somehow, a failure of the medical system. Witnessing someone's death is thought to be wrong. We have learned to fear death more than almost any other part of our lives. Adults do not speak of death in front of children as if it were something horrible and too much for children to deal with. Children who are left out of the process become confused and decide that death really must be awful if adults get so upset about it. Children may become so scared by what they are not told about death that they make up their own ideas of dead bodies turning into monsters and coming back as ghosts to haunt them. As soon as someone is dead in our western culture, they are whisked away to the mysterious funeral home where the body is somehow prepared for a funeral or memorial service. It is only after the embalming and cosmetic work have been done that the family gets to see the body of the person they loved so much. Many children find this viewing terrifying because they were not properly taught about it and they do not understand why their family members are acting so strange around the body of their grandmother, their uncle, father, or aunt. After all, in life, this person was around them all the time and they interacted with love. Around the dead body, however, everyone whispers, cries, and acts much differently than they normally do. This confuses and frightens children. How people are taught about death and dying as children can affect the way they react to the process throughout their lives. If people have bad experiences with death as children, they will not be able to fully share in the mysterious, spiritual process of being with a dying loved one at the time of that person's death. What a sad thing! This is a precious time for family and friends to share their love with the dying person and to say their farewells. People whose loved ones die in accidents or in other, abrupt ways do not have this time to say good-bye. When a terminally ill person, no matter what their age, dies you can give Support and Love to that person just by being with them. Touching them, singing to them, praying with them, and telling them it is okay to let go are all loving, precious acts! The end of life is simply the opposite of the beginning of life: nothing to be afraid of! Here is the big difference: at Birth, we are saying, "Hello and Welcome!" and at Death, we are saying, "Goodbye, See You Later!" Share this most blessed of times with anyone who needs the Love you share for Humanity! Do not be afraid!
